Pitched roof
Any building of new garrets and mansards or any reconstruction of the roof spaces and their conversion to mansard shall require a perfect project documentation and excellent realisation in consideration of physical characteristics, constructional requirements and standards for energy efficiency. Basic design concept consists of optimal designed and right inbuilt thermal insulation and its protection. Thickness and methods for application of thermal insulation would have resulted from the heat loss calculation. By using the heat loss calculation we can also specify water vapour condensation and consequently to project an sufficient vapour barrier and diffusion foil or extremely diffusion foil as a safety waterproof layer and necessary design element of the sloping roof. In this way we can act to maximize optimal thermal comfort in the living zone with the noise elimination and significant saving on energy costs as well.
The main principles of heat cladding for sloping roofs (garrets, attics, mansards):
- to choose - to design a right type and adequate thickness of thermal insulation
- to provide a secure air circulation through the air gap
- to lay thermal insulation continuous without thermal bridges - the best solution is thermal insulation applied as a complete layer over the rafters
- to apply a necessary protective foils - sufficient vapour barrier on the interior side and diffusion foil or extremely diffusion foil on the exterior side
